Launch Event: Dravya Centre for Materials and Sustainable Development
Envisioned as an interdisciplinary hub bringing together research, policy and practice to reimagine the future of India’s material systems, Dravya was launched on 12 November 2025, at The Imperial in New Delhi.
IIHS launched Dravya, the Centre for Materials and Sustainable Development, on 12 November 2025, at The Imperial in New Delhi.
Dravya will lead applied research, foster policy innovation, and build capacity for India’s materials transition—advancing new pathways in supply-chain resilience, technology, circularity, governance and equity.
The Dravya launch saw participation from senior policymakers, industry leaders, researchers and experts. The Centre’s inaugural report, ‘Material-Intensive and Globally Entangled Nature of India’s Development Ambitions’, spotlights rising material demand, possible vulnerabilities, and the need for coordinated action on circularity and resilient supply chains.
Dravya collaborates with government, industry, academia and communities to align India’s material systems with long-term goals for development, climate and inclusion.
